Our Kekoldy and Bribri tour starts at your hotel at around 9 am. We first visit an iguana farm run by the Kekoldy people dedicated to the protection of the green iguana. This species was already threatened with extinction and has recovered thanks to initiatives such as this one.
We then visit the Bri-Bri indigenous reserve, where we take a short guided tour to learn more about the properties and uses of some traditional plant species. Then we come to the interactive and tasty part of the tour. We are shown step by step how chocolate is made from the cocoa fruit. Cocoa plays a very important role in the Bri-Bri culture, as it is used for purification rituals, as food and also as medicine. A tasting is of course included.
The last place we will visit is a waterfall where we can take a refreshing bath and enjoy a fruit snack. The tour will end at a local restaurant where we will have a typical Caribbean lunch before heading back to the hotel.
