Nestled in the lush rainforests of Costa Rica, the Hule Lagoon captivates visitors with its breathtaking beauty. This pristine crater lake is formed within the remnants of an ancient volcano, offering a serene and awe-inspiring setting for hiking enthusiasts.
We leave La Fortuna around 7:30 am and drive 1.5 hours to begin our hike of 5 miles. The first trail leads us to a viewpoint overlooking the Hule Lagoon. Enjoy the unobstructed panorama, breathe in the fresh air, and relish the sheer beauty of nature's canvas.
Then we start our descent into the crater. As you venture deeper into the lush rainforest surrounding the crater, prepare to be immersed in a world teeming with biodiversity. The Hule Lagoon Volcanic Crater is home to a myriad of plant and animal species, making it a paradise for nature enthusiasts and avid birdwatchers alike. Keep your binoculars handy to catch glimpses of colourful toucans, playful monkeys, and elusive frogs.
On the 5 mile circuit we will also visit Congo Lagoon with its beautiful green waters and reach the shore of the Hule Lagoon. Take a moment to marvel at the interplay of light and shadow as the sun filters through the clouds. As we continue navigating through dense vegetation and start our ascend on the other side of the crater, we will encounter again breathtaking viewpoints that offer panoramic views of the lagoon.
After the hike, we certainly deserve the delicious traditional lunch before heading back to La Fortuna.
