Canyoning in Costa Rica involves rappelling down thundering waterfalls and challenging you to be exposed to the elements of nature and face your fears. Of course, it takes a bit of courage, but the professional guides will give you the necessary confidence and the most important tips and abseiling techniques so that you will quickly forget all your worries.
Equipped with a helmet and harness you make your way to the starting point of the tour. After an introduction, off we go and down the first waterfall where you are guaranteed to get wet, completely. But that’s exactly what makes it so much fun! Surrounded by enchanted jungle you will experience spectacular waterfalls from a perspective that you otherwise only know from photos.
Varies depending on the provider. In a La Fortuna tour for example we offer you two tours per day with pick up at the hotel at 7:00am or 12:00pm.
The tour lasts about 4 hours and most include lunch.
Average physical fitness is required depending on the tour and participation is possible for people with some disabilities.
The canyoning guides are professionally trained and the equipment meets high safety standards and is checked regularly. There is always a double belay and participants are always secured in and accompanied by the trained guides.
Depending on the provider, participation is possible for children as young as about 5 years old. There is no upper age limit.
To join a tour you should expect to pay about $100 per person.
