Floating, in German that means to let yourself drift. And that’s exactly what you do with this family-friendly type of rafting. If you would like to explore the Costa Rican rainforest on an inflatable boat tour, but find the rapids of whitewater rafting a little too exciting or you are traveling with small children, then floating is for you. Of course you will be equipped with a life jacket before your adventure on the river begins. Then you can just enjoy.
With some providers you don’t even have to paddle yourself, because some boats are equipped in such a way that your guide takes over the steering and paddling alone. Have your camera ready, because maybe raccoons or herons are hiding in the thickets on the bank or you might even spot a sloth or monkey in the branches of the trees. As you let your gaze glide through the evergreen rainforest landscape, your guide will explain interesting details about the plant and animal inhabitants of the Costa Rican jungle, because floating focuses on the slow and considerate discovery of nature.
Varies depending on the provider, but mostly in the morning between 8:00 and 9:00 a.m.
The tours last about 2-3 hours.
Since floating is not a sporting activity on fairly calm waters, no special fitness is required.
Floating is generally harmless, because of course you will be equipped with a life jacket and accompanied by trained guides.
Even smaller children can participate. The minimum age can vary depending on the provider, but participation is usually permitted from the age of 4.
The tours can be booked from US$ 60.
