While the engine noise of other boats tends to scare the animals, kayaking gives you the opportunity to approach monkeys, reptiles and birds quietly so you have a better chance at catching a glimpse at close range. Especially popular paddling tours can be found in Tortuguero, Sámara and Manuel Antonio. Average physical fitness is sufficient. However, paddling on the open sea or on Lake Arenal can be exhausting, depending on currents and wind.
You should be comfortable in the element of water and be able to swim. Of course you will be equipped with a life jacket and accompanied by an experienced guide. Please always follow the instructions of your guide, then you can enjoy kayaking carefree.
