In our Tortuguero Adventures package, you'll get to know Costa Rica's "Little Amazon" over three days. You can start this package from San José, Guápiles, or La Pavona.
Let yourself be enchanted by winding canals, long beach walks, and dense rainforest. What's rustling in the bushes? Who's howling from the trees? Monkeys, sloths, caimans, and many more animals await you!
Good to know: Between July and October, you can watch sea turtles nesting in Tortuguero. If you happen to be there during this time, don't miss this experience! Between September and November, you can see the tiny hatchlings make their way to the sea. But even outside these months, Tortuguero is always worth a visit!

The northern Caribbean is calling – can you hear it? If you're based in San José, your day begins early with pickup from your hotel. Since pickup isn't available from every accommodation, please arrange the meeting point with us beforehand. The drive takes you through the striking Braulio Carrillo National Park, with its steep, jungle-covered slopes, all the way to Guápiles. This package can also start for you right here, at the lodge's restaurant.
After a satisfying breakfast, the lodge's bus carries on to the dock, where you'll transfer into covered boats. Depending on the port, the boat ride takes one to two hours, and chances are high you'll already spot your first animals along the way.
By midday, you'll arrive at the lodge together with fellow travelers, get a brief orientation, settle into your room, and enjoy lunch.
Your first included tour happens that afternoon: a trip into the village with a local guide. There are no cars in Tortuguero – just boats and bicycles. The guide will share fascinating insights into local life, and afterward you'll have time to wander the main street or, for around US$2.50, drop into the museum to learn more about sea turtles.
You'll wrap up the day with a delicious dinner overlooking the main canal.

As is typical in Costa Rica, breakfast starts early, though you don't have to be at the buffet right at 7 a.m. Early risers can join an optional Early Morning Tour at 6 a.m. to watch the rainforest wake up.
After a tasty breakfast, you'll head to the boat dock today for the included boat tour through Tortuguero National Park. The monkeys play and howl, caimans wait patiently at the edge of the canals for their breakfast, and unique birds pose for a photo. Your guide won't just point out the various animal residents, though – they'll also explain the local climate and vegetation in detail.
Back at the lodge, you can enjoy lunch between 12 and 2 p.m., before strolling through the lodge's botanical garden with your local guide. There, you'll learn even more about the local flora and fauna. Afterward, until it's time for a delicious dinner, you can take a short walk along the beach, visit the frog garden, cool off at the pool, or simply enjoy the beauty of your surroundings.
Alternatively, in the afternoon you can also book additional optional tours, such as a guided kayak tour or a hike up Tortuguero Hill, which has a lovely viewpoint.
Please note: Entry to Tortuguero National Park (approx. US$17) is not included and must be paid through the national park authority SINAC's online portal. We'll provide you with all further details.
The last morning of your Tortuguero adventure has already arrived. The breakfast buffet is open again from 7 a.m. Afterward, you'll check out and board the lodge's boat at around 9 a.m., which takes you back to the harbor. From there, the lodge's transfer takes you back to Guápiles, where you'll enjoy a tasty lunch.
From Guápiles, you can, for example, pick up a rental car or continue on to your next destination by shuttle transfer. Options include a shuttle from Guápiles to La Fortuna near Arenal Volcano, or to Cahuita or Puerto Viejo on the southern Caribbean coast.
We're happy to include shuttle transfers, a rental car, or other services in your offer.
Alternatively, you can simply take the lodge's bus back to San José.
