Costa Rica is a birdwatcher's paradise with over 900 species of birds, making it one of the top birding destinations in the world. Our birdwatching tours cover a range of habitats from lush rainforests to wetlands, allowing you to discover an incredible diversity of birdlife.
Our experienced guides have an in-depth knowledge of the local ecology and are passionate about sharing their knowledge with you. They are dedicated to making sure that your birdwatching experience is unforgettable and tailored to your specific interests.
The tours start early in the morning (around 5:15 am) with the pick-up at your hotel. On our classical tour we take you to Mundo Aventura Park (but there are other options available).
Among the most common birds in this place are the Great kiskadee (Pitangus sulphuratus), the yellow tyrannulet (Capsiempis flaveola), montezuma oropendola (Psarocolius montezuma), the wing-barred seedeater (Sporophila americana), tropical kingbird (Tyrannus melancholicus), the red-billed pigeon (Patagioenas flavirostris), and the groove-billed ani (Crotophaga sulsirostris). Four different species of tucans can also be seen, as well as a large number of hummingbirds and tanagers. With a little luck, an ornate hawk eagle or a great black hawk will show up. In the park, it is also possible to see black-cheeked woodpecker (Melanerpes pucherani) and the Guianan trogon (Trogon violaceus).
All our tours include fresh coffee and a delicious breakfast.
If you are looking for a more technical tour with other birding options, there are different tours available. For example, we also offer birding tours to the following locations: Lake Arenal, the Místico Hanging Bridges, Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge (wetland), Ecocenter Danaus, El Silencio Private Reserve, Juan Castro Blanco National Park (cloud forest) and Children's Eternal Rainforest. On each tour you will be provided with a specialized guide. If you are looking for a specific bird, we can advise you.
