Discover the Bribri: Culture, Cacao & Nature

Step off the beaten path and immerse yourself in the fascinating world of the Bribri, one of Costa Rica's indigenous tribes. This unique day tour combines authentic cultural experiences, ancient traditions, the secrets of cacao, and the beauty of the Caribbean rainforest.

Your adventure begins around 9:00 AM with a pick-up at your hotel in Puerto Viejo, Punta Cocles, Punta Uva, or Cahuita. You will then travel to the indigenous Bribri Reserve, surrounded by lush tropical landscapes.

During a guided visit, you will discover the traditional uses of native plants and visit a typical Bribri ceremonial house. Learn more about the culture, traditions, and cosmovision of the Bribri people, as well as their deep spiritual connection with nature.

The experience then becomes hands-on – and delicious! Discover how cacao fruit is transformed into chocolate, step by step. Cacao plays an important role in Bribri culture and has traditionally been used for purification rituals, as food, and for medicinal purposes. Of course, you will also get to taste the delicious result during an included cacao tasting.

Afterward, enjoy a refreshing swim at a beautiful tropical waterfall and relax with a delicious fruit snack surrounded by nature.

The day concludes with a traditional Caribbean-style lunch at a local restaurant before you return to your hotel, filled with new impressions and an authentic glimpse into the fascinating world of the Bribri.

• - Child rate ($42) is for children 3-10 years old
• - The tour is bilingual in English and Spanish
• - Transportation from main hotels in Puerto Viejo, Punta Cocles, Punta Uva and Cahuita is included. If your hotel is located in Manzanillo, an additional pick-up cost of $6 per person applies.
• - The departure times are approximate and we will send you the exact pickup time.

• - Cancellations or changes to the booking are possible until 72 hours before departure. After that, only on request.
• - If a participant does not appear at the agreed time at the agreed place, the full booking price will be charged.
