Welcome to an extraordinary adventure in the heart of Costa Rica's mesmerizing landscapes. At Costa Rica Insider, we invite you to join us on a captivating jungle hike through the renowned Children's Eternal Rainforest, the largest private reserve in Central America. Immerse yourself in the lush greenery, encounter unique wildlife, and discover the natural wonders that make this protected area truly exceptional.
Nestled within the magnificent Arenal-Monteverde region, the Children's Eternal Rainforest stands as a testament to the power of conservation efforts. Established in 1987 by the collaboration of children from around the world, this biodiverse paradise spans over 54,000 acres and serves as a vital ecological corridor.
Our tour starts with an 1-hour drive from La Fortuna in a 4x4 vehicle to get to the Pocosol station. Here we start our 4.3 mile hike through the rainforest. Our experienced guides, well-versed in the rainforest's secrets, will lead you on a remarkable journey through this captivating ecosystem. On the way we will find a volcanic lagoon, fumaroles as another testament to the volcanic activity of the area and the impressive Pocosol Waterfall with a drop of over 165 feet.
Prepare to be enthralled by the astounding variety of flora and fauna that call the Children's Eternal Rainforest their home. Towering trees, vibrant orchids, and delicate ferns create a captivating tapestry of colors and textures, while elusive creatures such as peccaries, coatis, agoutis, howler monkeys and many birds add an element of intrigue to your journey.
After the hike we enjoy a delicious lunch at the Pocosol station before returning to our hotels in La Fortuna.
